What is Threading?
Threading is a from of hair removal that originates from Middle Eastern, Arabic and South Asian cultures. It is achieved by tying a cotton thread around the neck and creating a shuttle that traps hair in its path, removing it from the root. Sensitive skin can enjoy hair removal without experiencing severe redness, burns, blisters or breakouts! The work is much more precise which provides a cleaner, longer lasting result!
What is the difference between Waxing vs. Threading?
Waxing is a common epilation method in which hair adheres to the wax. The strip is quickly pulled in the opposite direction of hair growth. Its effective, but it can also be less precise and more traumatic on the skin. The repetitive pulling is proven to loosen collagen and elasticity, resulting in thinner skin over time. Threading grabs rows of hair from the root with precision using a cotton thread, while preserving the skin's integrity. Think of Threading like ‘turbo tweezing’.
Does Threading hurt?
Pain threshold is different for everyone. For most, it feels like a rubber band rubbing against the skin or no different than tweezing. If you have very low pain tolerance, we offer application of an over the counter anesthetic, to make your experience more comfortable.
Is Threading safe?
Absolutely! On rare occasion, hyper-sensitive individuals and may experience welts, redness, flare ups and/or small pustules around the threaded area. Proper skin prep and after care is strongly advised to lessen these side effects. Keep in mind that Threading is not regulated by the State of Texas. Individuals who thread and opt not to have a license, are limited to performing threading services without the protocols licensed beauticians follow for proper skin prep and sanitation.
Are you licensed?
Yes! We proudly display our Esthetician License. We are also licensed as an establishment under a ‘Specialty Esthetics’ Salon.
If Threading is not regulated, does a license even matter?
It depends on who you ask. Licensed professionals have met all the criteria required by the state to demonstrate they can safely perform cosmetology services on a consumer. Those who opt not to be licensed, may still perform threading, but under strict limitations. Unlicensed individuals may not, under any circumstance perform cosmetology services that require a license; i.e. tweezing, trimming, skin prep, tinting, etc.
My brows are falling out! What should I do?
Its completely normal for brow hair to mildly shed on occasion. Brow hair, like all body hair, has a growth cycle. Genetics, lifestyle, daily habits and stress do contribute to the growth cycle. If your brows seem to be shedding more than usual, ditch the tweezers and let them grow! Use a nourishing oil, i.e.; coconut, grapeseed, olive, argan, etc. to nourish weak follicles. Avoid using harsh soaps, astringents, scrubs and exfoliating acids on the brows to avoid excess shedding. Supplements that promote hair, skin and nail growth can help as well!
